Urgent Call To Action!

While HR536 was shelved by the Judicial Subcommittee of the Georgia House, HB1 was forwarded along to the full Judicial Committee with a Do Not Pass recommendation.

We urge each and every one of you to immediately write or call your legislator and demand that HB1 receive a full, fair hearing in the Judicial Committee process. We also ask you to tell your legislator to support HB1

Keeping the Heat Turned-up for Life,
Martin

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.

Psalm 139:13-16

Let Them Live Campaign

It's Time To Turn Up The Heat!

We have just learned from one of our legislative sources and another insider at the state capitol that there is a group of state legislators who ran and were elected on a Pro-Life platform, many of them received an endorsement from GRTL, and claim to believe in the santity of life – yet appear unwilling at this time to support HB1. We wanted to point out these state legislators to you so that you can help us turn up the electoral "heat" to get them moving in support of this vital Pro-Life measure. Please take a few moments as you Letter Lobby for our weekly list of lawmakers and include the following Georgia House members:

Letter Lobbying Effort

A famous politician once said, "When I feel the heat, I see the light!" It is precisely the "heat" of thousands of concerned Pro-Life Georgia voters we want to bring to bear on the officials we have elected to represent us at the Capitol. They need to get the message loud and clear from us that HB1 is essential to us and that we will hold them accountable. We are asking everyone to personally write letters to the following individuals and mail them during the dates indicated:

State Representative Mark Burkhalter (District 41) , January 28 – 30
340 State Capitol
Atlanta, GA 30334
404-256-5072

State Representative David Casas (District 103), January 31 – February 2
Suite 601 Coverdell Legislative Office Building
Atlanta, GA 30334
404-656-0254

State Representative John Lunsford (District 110) , February 4 – 6
401 State Capitol
Atlanta, GA 30334
404-656-7146

State Representative Jerry Keen (District 179) , February 7 - 9
338 State Capitol
Atlanta, GA 30334
404-656-5052

Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (District 19) , February 11 – 13

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, February 14 – 16

Governor Sonny Perdue
, February 18 – 20
203 State Capitol
Atlanta, GA 30334
404-656-5947

We also ask that you take the time today to write your own State Representative on behalf of HB1.

Some Suggestions for Effective Letter Lobbying:
1. Make each letter as personal as possible. Mass, pre-formatted letters are quickly discarded and certainly ignored by legislative staffers. We have written a simple paragraph that we recommend you include in your letter (you may reword to your taste):

As an elected official of the state of Georgia, it is your duty to represent the citizens of our state in all matters of governance entrusted to you. As a concerned voting citizen of this state, I want you to know that the sanctity of every human life from conception to old age is of vital importance to me. I therefore urge you to exercise your delegated authority on behalf of the people of Georgia in full support of HB1.

2. Letters may be typed, hand-written, or composed on computer and printed. However, we believe it is very important that they be hand-signed and that the envelopes be hand-addressed.

3. For those who have the resources, we suggest that letter lobbyists use better paper stock for their letters. Better envelopes are also likely to catch the attention of staffers.
